Giovanna Mezzogiorno is a critically acclaimed Italian theatre and film actress.

She was born to actors Vittorio Mezzogiorno and Cecilia Sacchi. Her father was from Naples and her mother from Milan. Giovanna is a maternal first cousin, once removed, of publisher and businessperson Giangiacomo Feltrinelli. She is married to driver Alessio Fugolo, with whom she has two children.

Giovanna’s maternal grandfather was writer and journalist Filippo Sacchi (the son of Carlo Enrico Sacchi and Maria Vittoria Figini). Filippo was born in Vicenza, Veneto.

Giovanna’s maternal grandmother was Josepha Gianzana (the daughter of Beniamino Luigi “Mino” Gianzana and Rosa Montanaro). Mino was a banker, and was born in Pieve del Cairo, Pavia, Lombardy.
