Fred Durst is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, director, and actor. He is the frontman and lyricist of nu metal band Limp Bizkit. He has directed the films The Education of Charlie Banks, The Longshots, and The Fanatic, the latter of which he also co-wrote; as well as commercials for Eharmony. He co-starred in the films Population 436 and I Saw the TV Glow, and was a playable character in the video games WWF SmackDown! Just Bring It, WWF Raw (2002), and Fight Club (2004).

He was renamed William Frederick Durst after his stepfather Bill Durst, a police officer. He was partly raised in Orlando; Cherryville, on a farm, and Gastonia, both in North Carolina; and Oakland, California. Fred is married to Arles Durst. He has a daughter with his former wife Rachel Tergesen; and a son with his former partner, actress Jennifer Thayer.

Fred’s paternal grandfather was Fredrick/Frederick Allen “Fred” Meyne (the son of Vernon Henry Meyne and Wanda Evelyn Pfeiffer). Frederick was born in Grafton, Ohio. Vernon was the son of Charles Henry Meyne, whose father was from Hanover, Region Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany; and of Bertha K. Wise, whose grandparents were all from Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Fred’s great-grandmother Wanda was the daughter of Henry Louis Pfeiffer, whose parents were from Württemberg, Germany; and of Cora Bessie Benton.

Fred’s paternal grandmother was Patricia Arlene Murphy (the daughter of Robert B. Murphy and Phillis Wad). Patricia was born in St. Augustine, Florida. Phillis was the daughter of Austin T. Wad and Helen Lineberger.

Fred’s maternal grandfather was Earl Jackson Jenkins (the son of Reid Robert Jenkins and Sallie Ann Holder). Earl was born in Dallas, Gaston, North Carolina. Reid was the son of Andrew Jackson Jenkins and Ida Catherine Jenkins Burgess Allen. Sallie was the daughter of Charlie Jones Holder and Amelia E./Isabel Hendrix.

Fred’s maternal grandmother was Margaret Eugenia Burgin (the daughter of Troy Jackson Burgin and Mae Elizabeth Black). Margaret was born in Dallas, Gaston, North Carolina. Troy was the son of Jasper Howell Burgin and Clara Beatrice Arrowood. Mae was the daughter of Vincent Leander Lee Black and Focie Lela “Flossie” Hovis.
