Alex Lifeson is a Canadian musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is the guitarist and backing vocalist of progessive rock band Rush. Other members of the band include/have included Geddy Lee and Neil Peart.

Alex is the son of Serbian immigrants Melanija and Nenad Zivojinovich/Živojinović. His stage name Lifeson is a semi-literal translation of his birth name, Živojinović, which is Serbian for “son of life.”

Alex is married to Charlene, with whom he has two children.
