Ayrton Senna was a Brazilian racing driver. A three time Formula One world championship winner, in 1988, 1990, and 1991, he is regarded as one of the greatest drivers of all time. He died in an accident while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

Ayrton was born into a wealthy family, the son of Neide Joanna Senna and Milton Guirado Theodoro da Silva. He was a devout Catholic.

His father was of half Brazilian/Portuguese and half Spanish descent. His mother was of Italian [Campanian, Tuscan, Sicilian] ancestry.

Ayrton’s paternal grandfather was Antônio Teodoro da Silva (the son of Amaro Antônio da Silva and Teodora Alves Pereira). Antônio was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and had deep Brazilian roots. Amaro was the son of Salvador Mariano da Silva and Rita Maria de Camargo. Teodora was the daughter of Serafim José de Santana Martins and Olinta Maria da Conceição.

Ayrton’s paternal grandmother was Maria Rosa Guirado Requena (the daughter of Ramón Guirado Mesas and Eloisa/Luisa Requena Giménez). Maria Rosa was born in Tíjola, province of Almería, Andalusia, Spain. Ramón was the son of Ramón Guirado Oller and Antonia Mesas Losa. Eloisa was the daughter of Juan Requena Rosas/Rosa and Rosa Giménez Navarro.

Ayrton’s maternal grandfather was João Senna (the son of Luigi Sena and Giovanna Magro). João was born in São Paulo, Brazil. Luigi was born in Scisciano, province of Naples, Campania, Italy, the son of Antonio di Sena and Concetta Ardolino. Giovanna was born in Siculiana, province of Agrigento, Sicily, Italy, the daughter of Giovanni Magro and Angela Curabba.

Ayrton’s maternal grandmother is Marcellina di Santoro (the daughter of Raffaele di Santoro and Maria Servilia di Santoro). Marcellina was born in São Paulo, Brazil. Raffaele was born in Porcari, province of Lucca, Tuscany, Italy, the son of Francesco di Santoro and Maddalena Borelli. Maria was born in Porcari, the daughter of Arcangelo di Santoro and Maria Rosalia Pollastrini.

      Man, that is impressive!

      He was said to have Neapolitan roots, and his maternal grandparents’ surnames I found on a FB fanpage when I submitted the profile were right then.

      But the Spanish ancestry surprises me a bit (something that is underrated in Brazil)

    do you know something about him? those grandparents names were in a Facebook fanpage post but I dunno how much accurate it was.
