Owen Farrell is a British professional rugby union player. He is the captain of Gallagher Premiership side Saracens.
Owen is the son of Colleen (O’Loughlin) and rugby coach Andy Farrell, who played both rugby league and rugby union for England. Owen was born when his parents were sixteen years old. For the first five years of his life, he was named Owen O’Loughlin. Andy and Colleen married in 1995, and changed Owen’s surname to Farrell the following year.
Owen is also related to rugby league footballers Liam Farrell and Connor Farrell. Owen is married to Georgina (Lyon), with whom he has two children.
Owen’s paternal grandfather is named Peter Farrell.
Owen’s paternal grandmother is Carol A. Heyes (the daughter of George Heyes and Hannah Rorcroft).
Owen’s maternal grandfather is Keiron O’Loughlin (the son of Joseph O’Loughlin and Ann Rowland). Keiron was born in Wigan, England, and is an English former rugby league footballer.
