Kelly Ayotte is an American attorney and politician. A Republican, she served as Attorney General of New Hampshire, from June 15, 2004 to July 17, 2009, and a U.S. Senator from New Hampshire, from January 3, 2011 to January 3, 2017.

Kelly is married to fighter pilot Joseph Daley, with whom she has two children.

Kelly’s paternal grandfather was Roland Ayotte (the son of Alfred Homer/Omer Ayotte and Alma A. Arbour). Roland was born in New Hampshire. Kelly’s great-grandparents Alfred and Alma were born in New Hampshire, and all of their own parents were French-Canadian. Alfred was the son of Joseph Onesime Ayotte and Auxilia Mongeau. Alma was the daughter of William Arbour and Marie Delima Theberge.

Kelly’s paternal grandmother was Irene G. Elie (the daughter of Frederic Elie and Odile Bisson). Irene was born in Massachusetts. Frederic was born in New Hampshire, to French-Canadian parents. Odile was also French-Canadian, born in Québec, the daughter of Auguste Bisson and Marie Demers.

Kelly’s maternal grandfather was John Thomas Sullivan (the son of Humphrey Thomas Sullivan and Gertrude Ethel Smith). John was born in East Pepperell, Massachusetts. Humphrey was born in Cork, Ireland. Gertrude was born in Massachusetts, of Irish descent, the daughter of Edward Smith and Johannah Coughlan.

Kelly’s maternal grandmother was Mary Katherine Flynn (the daughter of Michael Flynn and Mary Lynch). Kelly’s great-grandparents Michael and Mary were born in Roscommon, Ireland.
