Cal Ripken, Jr. is an American baseball player. He was a shortstop. He was a third baseman, and played 21 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles. He is nicknamed “The Iron Man.”

Cal is the son of Violet and Cal Ripken, Sr. He is married to judge, Laura S. He has two children with his former wife Kelly Geer.

Cal’s paternal grandfather was Arend Fredrick Ripken (the son of Peter Friedrich/Frederick Ludwig Ripken and Affena Lubina Wychgram). Peter was the son of Johann Friedrich Ripken and Anna Margrete Mueller. Affena was the daughter of Arend Wychgram and Rena Beredina Berends.

Cal’s paternal grandmother was Clara Amelia Oliver (the daughter of James Oliver and Mary Magdalena Stumpter/Stumptner). James was the son of William Oliver and Sarah McCoy. Mary Magdalena was the daughter of John Jacob Stumpter and Katherine Burkley.

Cal’s maternal grandfather was Charles Edwin Gross (the son of Charles Egbert Gross and Mary Jane Mitchell). Cal’s great-grandfather Charles was the son of Charles Edward Gross and Hannah Elizabeth Wallis.

Cal’s maternal grandmother was named Hazel Catherine Cullum.
