Wes Ball is an American film director, visual effects artist, and graphic artist. He has directed the films The Maze Runner, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. He was a pre-vizualation artist on Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D and a visual effects artist on Beginners (2011).

Wes is the son of Audrey and Thomas Ball. He was raised in Lake Como, Florida.

Wes’ maternal grandfather was Horace Greely Ellis (the son of William Ellington Ellis and Fannie Bell Killian). Horace was born in Georgia. William was born in Georgia, the son of James Calvin Ellis and Elizabeth Susan Wallace. Fannie was born in Georgia, the daughter of Daniel M. Killian and Mary Jackson.

Wes’ maternal grandmother was Doris Louise Johnson (the daughter of John Frank Johnson and Marie Barrett). Doris was born in Virginia. John was born in Virginia, the son of John Edward Johnson and Eva E. Bridger. Marie was born in Virginia, the daughter of Benjamin L. Barrett and Mary Ann Bryant.
