Vince McMahon is an American professional wrestling promoter and executive, businessperson, entrepreneur, and media proprietor. He was Chairman and CEO of WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) until 2022. In 1980, he co-founded Titan Sports, Inc. with his wife, Linda McMahon; they bought Capitol Wrestling Corporation in 1982, from his father, later renamed WWF, which then became WWE. He has also been credited as Mr. McMahon.
Vince is the son of Victoria (Hanner), from South Carolina, and professional wrestling promoter Vincent J. McMahon (Vincent James McMahon), who was born in Harlem, Manhattan, New York. His grandfather was professional wrestling and professional boxing promoter Jess McMahon. Vince was raised as Vinnie Lupton, his stepfather’s name.
Vince’s wife Linda was born Linda Marie Edwards, and is a government executive, politician, and, for WWE, professional wrestling executive and performer, who served as Administrator of the Small Business Administration, from February 14, 2017 to April 12, 2019. Their children are businesspeople and professional wrestlers Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon, who have worked as performers, and behind-the-scenes, at WWE. Stephanie is Chief Brand Officer and interim CEO of WWE. She is married to professional wrestler, business executive, and actor Triple H.
Vince’s paternal grandfather was Roderick James “Jess” McMahon (the son of Roderick McMahon and Elizabeth Dowling). Jess was born in Manhattan, New York. His parents were Irish, with his father being from Galway and his mother from County Kilkenny. Vince’s great-grandfather Roderick owned a hotel, and was the son of Owen McMahon and Mary. Elizabeth was the daughter of Richard Dowling and Catherine Grass.
