Viktor Orbán is a Hungarian jurist and politician. He has served as Prime Minister of Hungary, since 29 May, 2010, and, previously, from 6 July, 1998 to 27 May, 2002. He has also been a Member of the National Assembly, since 2 May, 1990, and President of Fidesz, since 17 May, 2003, and, previously, from 18 April, 1993 to 29 January, 2000. He is the country’s longest-serving Prime Minister.
Viktor’s father, Győző Orbán, is an entrepreneur and agronomist. Viktor’s mother, Erzsébet Sípos, is a special educator and speech therapist. He is married to jurist Anikó Lévai, with whom he has five children, including Pentecostal church preacher and professional footballer Gáspár Orbán.
Viktor’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his fourth great-grandfather, Ferenc Orbán.
Viktor’s paternal grandfather was Mihály Orbán (the son of János Orbán and Erzsébet Fülepp/Fülöp). Mihály was born in Dad, Oroszlányi, Komarom-Esztergom, Hungary, and practiced farming and animal husbandry. János was the son of János Orbán and Erzsébet Csonka.
Viktor’s paternal grandmother was Magdolna Szegöl (the daughter of Lajos Szegöl and Katalin Molnár). Magdolna was born in Bicske, Bicskei, Fejer, Hungary.
Viktor’s maternal grandfather was named László Sipos.
Viktor’s maternal grandmother was named Sára Bujda.
