Tamlyn Tomita is an American actress and singer. Her roles include the films The Karate Kid Part II, Come See the Paradise, The Joy Luck Club, Picture Bride, Four Rooms, Robot Stories, The Day After Tomorrow, and Gaijin 2: Love Me as I Am, and the series Cobra Kai, 24, Teen Wolf, How to Get Away with Murder, Berlin Station, The Good Doctor, and Star Trek: Picard.
Tamlyn was born on a military base in Okinawa, the daughter of Asako and Shiro Tomita, an LAPD officer. Her father was born in California, to parents from Japan, and was interned during WWII. Her mother was born in Manila, Philippines, and is of Japanese and Filipino Ilocano descent; she later moved to Okinawa. Tamlyn was raised in Los Angeles, California. She is married to actor Daniel Blinkoff.
Tamlyn has stated:
I’m… a quarter [Filipino]. My mother is Hapa, she’s Ilokano. She just made adobo last night. We bought everything, the sugar, the vinegar, the chicken, and the pork too. People don’t like pork except us Filipinos.
Tamlyn’s paternal grandmother was surnamed Satake.
