Kris Aquino, also known simply as Kris, is a Filipina television host, actress, producer, product endorser, and businessperson. She is dubbed “Queen of all Media.”

Her father, Benigno Aquino, Jr. (Benigno Simeon Aquino Aquino, Jr.), was a politician, who was Senator of the Philippines, from December 30, 1967 to September 23, 1972. Her mother, Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino (born Maria Corazon Sumulong Cojuangco), served as President of the Philippines, from 25 February, 1986 to 30 June, 1992. Her brother, Benigno Aquino III (Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III), also known as PNoy and Noynoy, was also President of the Philippines, from June 30, 2010 to June 30, 2016, among other duties. She has a son with her former partner, actor Phillip Salvador; and a son, actor Bimby Aquino Yap, with her former husband, professional basketball player James Yap.

On her father’s side, Kris is the niece of politicians Butz Aquino, who was Senator of the Philippines, from June 30, 1987 to June 30, 1995, among other duties; and Tessie Aquino-Oreta, who was Senator of the Philippines, from June 30, 1998 to June 30, 2004, among other duties. On her mother’s side, Kris is the niece of educator Josephine C. Reyes and politician Peping Cojuangco, who was President of the Philippine Olympic Committee, from January 2005 to March 5, 2018, among other duties. Kris’s paternal great-uncle was politician and businessperson Herminio Aquino.

Kris’s paternal grandfather was Benigno Simeon Quiambao Aquino (the son of Don Servillano Aquino y Aguilar and Doña Guadalupe Quiambao y Tañedo). Kris’s grandfather Benigno Aquino, Sr. was born in Murcia, now Concepcion, Tarlac, Captaincy General of the Philippines, and was also a politician, who was Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, and Speaker of the National Assembly of the Second Philippine Republic, from September 25, 1943 to February 2, 1944, and Vice President of the Philippines, from October 14, 1943 to August 17, 1945, among other duties. Kris’s great-grandfather Servillano Aquino was a general during the Philippine Revolution against Spain (1896–1898), and the Philippine–American War (1899–1902). He was the son of Don Braulio Aquino y Lacsamana and Doña Antonina/Antonia Petrona Aguilar de Hipólito. Kris’s great-grandmother Guadalupe was the daughter of Pablo Quiambao and Lorenza Tañedo.

Kris’s paternal grandmother was Aurora Lampa Aquino (the daughter of Agapito de los Santos Aquino and Gerarda Miranda Lampa). Aurora was born in Concepcion, Tarlac. Agapito was the son of Servillano Aquino and Evarista de los Santos. Gerarda was the daughter of Lorenzo Lenun Lampa and Gertrudes Miranda.

Kris’s maternal grandfather was José Cojuangco (José Chichioco Cojuangco, Sr., the son of Melecio/Melencio Estrella Cojuangco and Tecla Valenzuela Chichioco). Kris’s grandfather José was born in Malolos, Bulacan, Captaincy General of the Philippines, and was a politician. Kris’s great-grandfather Melecio was born in Malolos, Bulacan, the son of Co Yu-hwan (later José Cojuangco), from Hongjian Village, Jiaomei Township, Zhangzhou, Fujian, and of Antera Estrella y de la Cruz. Antera’s parents were Felipe Estrella, who was Tagalog, and served as a militiaman for the Spanish Army; and Martina Calub Cruz, a Filipina. Kris’s great-grandmother Tecla was the daughter of Juan Chichioco and Valentina Jumaquio Valenzuela.

Kris’s maternal grandmother was Demetria Sumulong Sumulong (the daughter of Juan Marquez Sumulong and María Salomé Carigma Sumulong). Demetria was born in Antipolo City, Calabarzon. She was from the politically influential Sumulong family of Rizal province. Juan was the son of Policarpio Saguinsin Sumulong and Arcadia Marquez. María Salomé was the daughter of Valentín Sumulong and María Elena Carigma.

The earliest ancestors of the Sumulong family were Didicas Sabud Sumulong and Clara Sumulong, the Dumagats of Aurora.
