Koit Toome is an Estonian singer and musical actor. He represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, along with Laura Põldvere. He previously represented in 1998, finishing 12th.
He is the son of Tiia (Vares) and Ain Toome. His uncle, Indrek Toome, was Prime Minister of Estonia from 1988 to 1990. He is married to Kaia Triisa.
Koit’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his fourth great-grandfather, Johann Tomassov.
Koit’s paternal grandfather was Herbert Johannes Tomassov (later Toome, the son of Johan Aleksander Tomassov and Vilhelmine Marie Sieber). Herbert was born in Tallinn. Johan was the son of Konstantin Tomassov, who was of Russian descent, and of Maria Adele Klaman, who was of Finnish, German and Swedish descent. Vilhelmine was the daughter of Juhan Sieber and Leenu Tomband.
Koit’s paternal grandmother was Adele (later Aade) Helene Heinmann (later Hein, the daughter of Anton Heinrich Heinmann, later Hein, and of Ida Emilie Sarjas). Adele was born in Tallinn. Anton was the son of Karel Heinmann and Maria Heino. Ida was the daughter of Hans Sarjas and Kretha Kask.
Koit’s maternal grandmother was named Laine Vares (the daughter of Eduard Vares and Julie). Eduard was the son of Jaan Vares and Ann Jaanson.
