Jeff Porcaro was an American drummer, songwriter, record producer, and session musician. He was a member of rock band Toto. The band’s members also include/have included Jeff’s brothers, Mike Porcaro and Steve Porcaro, as well as Bobby Kimball, Steve Lukather, David Paich, and Joseph Williams.

Jeff was the son of Eileen Frances (Linnell) and jazz drummer and percussionist Joe Porcaro. He was also a brother of actress Joleen Porcaro Duddy. His nephew, Chase Duddy, and niece, Paige Duddy, formed electronic duo XYLØ. Jeff was raised in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles.

Jeff was married to journalist Susan C. Norris, and had three children.

Jeff’s paternal grandfather was Giuseppe Porcara (later Joseph Thomas Porcaro, the son of Francesco Saverio Porcara and Elisabetta Maria Alvaro). Giuseppe was an Italian emigrant, from San Luca, Province of Reggio Calabria. Saverio was the son of Francescantonio Porcara and Antonia Pollifroni. Elisabetta was the daughter of Giuseppe Alvaro and Maria Giorgi.

Jeff’s paternal grandmother was Concetta Ciccariello (the daughter of Domenico Ciccariello and Maria di Nosia). Concetta was an Italian emigrant, from Brianza, Province of Monza and Brianza, Lombardy.

Jeff’s maternal grandfather was Rodney Stewart Linnell (the son of Winslow Warren Linnell and Mariette E. Hall). Rodney was born in Maine. Winslow was the son of Lorenzo Dow Linnell and Phebe A. Munson. Mariette was born in Hereford, Québec, Canada, to American parents, Albert Charles Hall and Lucy Ann Hodge/Hodges.

Jeff’s maternal grandmother was Verona Mary Parker (the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Parker and Mary Jane Bryson, later Brayson). Verona was born in Maine. Benjamin was born in Maine, the son of Irish immigrants, George Parker and Mary Ann McFadden. Jeff’s great-grandmother Mary Jane was born in Johnville, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of John Bryson, who was of Irish descent, and of Irish immigrant Mary.

    I honestly think it’s cool to see Italian regions used in ethnicities. Historically and culturally, there were differences between a lot of the Italian regions, and they persist even today.
