I just hope this wave of new commentators isn’t a death knell for this site. I can imagine some unsatisfied user contacting the ADL and/or WordPress gets notified and then Ethnicelebs gets shut down for perceived permission and/or advocacy of antisemitism.

Hopefully that’s merely a paranoid, worst case scenario that isn’t going to occur.

The majority of people profiled on the site are American. Most, if not all, of those are from families that are from different continents than North America, even First Nation Americans are originally from Asia. Should European, Asian, South American, African tags be added to every profile that needs them respectively, for hyper accuracy sake? Should every person that has familial origins in the mid-east also be tagged as Asian or West Asian? Should every single profile have the African tag?

If that’s not accurate enough of an analogy or is false equivalence, what people with African American tagged in their profiles? They are a relocated people, with an admixture of European genetics averaging 18-20%. Should 90+% of those profiles be labeled West African and European. I used a high ball park figure because almost all African Americans profiled are descendants of the individuals victimized by the Atlantic slave trade, probably less than 10% profiled are recent immigrants from Africa and/or from East African nations.

Doesn’t it all seem a bit excessive?
