Dorothy “Dottie” Schwartz was an American singer. She was a member of The Chordettes, a female pop music quartet founded in 1946 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Other members of the group were, at various points, Carol Buschmann, Janet Ertel, Lynn Evans, Margie Needham, Jinny Osborn, Nancy Overton, and Alice Mae Spielvogel.
Dorothy was the daughter of Anna Maria Emmiline and Arthur Gustav Hummitzsch. Her father was a German emigrant. Her maternal grandparents were also German, from Saxony.
Dorothy’s paternal grandfather was named Carl Hummitzsch.
Dorothy’s paternal grandmother was Aurelia Kaiser (the daughter of Carl Wilhelm Kaiser and Amalie Schmachtenberg).
Dorothy’s maternal grandfather was Reinhold H. Kuhnert (the son of Wilhelm Kuhnert and Emilie Berner). Reinhold was from Dresden.
