Daniel’s paternal grandfather was Daniel Stephen Jones (the son of Rowland/Roland Judson Jones and Lidie A./Eliza Purcell Alderman). Rowland was born in North Carolina, the son of Eugene Spurgeon Jones and Mary Ann Lancaster. Lidie was the daughter of Daniel Stephen Alderman and Eliza/Elizabeth Lydia Hobday Purcell.
