Dorothy Malone was an American actress. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Written on the Wind (1956).

Dorothy was the daughter of Esther Emma “Eloise” and Robert Ignatius Maloney, an auditor for ATT telephone company. She had two children with her former husband, French actor and business executive Jacques Bergerac.

Dorothy’s paternal grandfather was named Patrick J. Maloney. Patrick was Irish.

Dorothy’s paternal grandmother was named Mary Agatha Foley. Mary Agatha was born in Illinois, to Irish parents.
