Austin Petersen is an American political activist, producer, commentator, and writer. As of 2017, he is a Republican.

He was a candidate for the Libertarian Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 2016.

Austin is the son of Donna Josephine (Magness) and John D. Petersen. His mother had English, German, Welsh, Swiss-German, and Cornish, ancestry. Austin has stated that the Petersen family was from Denmark. It is not clear if Austin’s father is of entirely or partially Danish ancestry.

Austin’s maternal grandfather was Donald Raymond Magness (the son of Stephen Ardell Magness and Belle O. Winn). Donald was born in Missouri. Stephen was the son of Alexander Magness and Annie. Belle was the daughter of Virgil Winn and Mary Katherine E. “Kate” Brooks.

Austin’s maternal grandmother was Hazel Lucia Babylon (the daughter of Joseph Burris Babylon and Josephine Dora Nance). Hazel was born in Missouri. Austin’s great-grandfather Joseph was the son of Emanual Josiah Babylon and Elizabeth J. Lehman. Austin’s great-grandmother Josephine was the daughter of Davis Allen Nance and Josephine Bonaparte Hook.
