Art Carney was an American actor. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for Harry and Tonto (1974).
Art was the son of Helen A. (Farrell) and Edward Michael Carney. He was married to Jean Myers, until his death. The couple had three children. One of their grandsons is State Representative Devin Carney, of Connecticut.
His great-nephew is singer, songwriter, and actor Reeve Carney.
Art’s paternal grandfather was Matthew Carney (the son of Patrick Carney and Bridget Seery). Matthew was Irish, from Dysart, West Meath. Patrick was the son of Patrick Carney and Ellen Larkin. Bridget was the daughter of Patrick Seery and Ellen.
Art’s paternal grandmother was Sarah Ellen Quinn (the daughter of Patrick Quinn and Mary de la Roche/Roach). Sarah was born in New Hampshire. Patrick was born in Ballygar, Galway, Ireland, the son of Patrick Quinn and Catherine Bridget Clark/Clarke. Mary was born in Newfoundland, the daughter of Irish parents, William de la Roche/Roach and Johanna Ormand-Comberford/Comerford, who were from Kilkenny.
