Tulsi is one of the first three people born in the 1980s to have run a prominent campaign for a major party’s nomination for President of the United States, along with Pete Buttigieg and Eric Swalwell, all of whom sought the 2020 Democratic nomination.
Tulsi is also the first person of Polynesian heritage to mount a notable presidential campaign. Additionally, she is one of five people who were at least partly raised in the Hindu faith, or a Hindu-related faith, to run or to have run for a major party’s presidential nomination. Bobby Jindal, who sought the Republican Party’s 2016 nomination; Kamala Harris, who also sought the Democratic Party’s 2020 nomination, and is the party’s nominee for President of the United States in 2024; Nikki Haley, who sought the 2024 Republican nomination, winning two primaries; and Vivek Ramaswamy, who also sought the 2024 Republican nomination, are the others. Kamala Harris began serving as Vice President of the United States in 2021. Of the five, only Tulsi and Vivek identify as Hindu presently.
Tulsi’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced to Hans Michael Gebert, who was born, c. 1702, in Schwaigern, Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, and to his wife, Anna Sabina Nellinger, who was born, c. 1701, also in Schwaigern.

bet her natural skin color is a really light shade of brown, if not just olive white…
If so she’d be close to 1/3 than 1/4 Samoan.
No shes actually closer to 1/4 Samoan. Her dad would be about 9/16 Samoan which is about 56%, so she’d be 9/32 Samoan or 28% Samoan.
Her DNA Test indicates that she is 25,6% SE Asian, 3,8% “broadly” Oceanian, 1,1% “broadly” East Asian (total 30,8%), and they are all evidently coming from her Polynesian heritage.
Because of this SE Asian component, Wikipedia erroneously lists her among Asian-Americans.
