Terri Sewell is an American politician and lawyer. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Alabama, since January 3, 2011.
Terri is the daughter of Andrew Sewell, an athletic coach, and Nancy Gardner Sewell, a city Councilwoman and librarian. Her mother was the first black woman to be elected as a councilwoman at Selma City. She is a cousin of politician Briana Sewell.
Terri’s paternal grandfather was named George Sewell.

Terri’s maternal grandfather was The Rev. Tom M. Gardner, Jr. (the son of Tom M. Gardner and Willie Frances Sanders). Terri’s grandfather The Rev. Tom was born in Alabama.
