Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is the eighth and current Emir of Qatar, since 25 June, 2013, after his father, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, abdicated.

Tamim’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his fifth great-grandfather, Thani bin Mohammad.

Tamim’s mother, Moza bint Nasser Al Missned, is the second of Hamad’s three wives. Tamim is married to Jawahir bint Hamad bint Suhaim Al Thani, with whom he has four children; Anoud bint Mana Al Hajri, with whom he has four children; and Noora bint Hathal Al Dosari, with whom he has two children.

Tamim’s paternal grandfather was Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani (the son of Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani and Aisha bint Khalifa Al Suwaidi). Tamim’s grandfather Khalifa was born in Al Rayyan, Qatar. Tamim’s great-grandfather Hamad was the son of Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani and Mariam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah. Tamim’s great-grandmother Aisha was the daughter of Khalifa Al Suwaidi.

Tamim’s paternal grandmother was Aisha bint Hamad Al Attiyah (the daughter of Hamad Al Attiyah).

Tamim’s maternal grandfather was Nasser bin Abdullah Al Missned (the son of Abdullah bin Ali Al Missned). Tamim’s great-grandfather Abdullah was the son of Ali Al Missned.
