Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson was the fifth President of Iceland, from 1 August, 1996 to 1 August, 2016. He is the son of Grímur Kristgeirsson and Svanhildur Ólafsdóttir Hjartar. He is married to Dorrit Moussaieff. He was previously married to Guðrún Katrín Þorbergsdóttir.

Ólafur’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his 6th great-grandfather, Eysteinn Jónsson.
