Þorgrímur Þráinsson is an Icelandic writer, motivational speaker, and footballer. He was a candidate for the 2016 Icelandic presidential election.

Þorgrímur is the son of Soffía Margrét Þorgrímsdóttir and Þráinn Þorvaldsson. He is married to Ragnhildur Eiríksdóttir, with whom he has three children.

Þorgrímur’s paternal grandfather was Þorvaldur Þórarinsson (the son of Þórarinn Jónsson and Sigríður Þorvaldsdóttir). Þorgrímur’s great-grandfather Þórarinn was the member of the Althing, and was the son of Jón Þórarinsson and Margrét Jóhannsdóttir. Sigríður was the daughter of Þorvaldur Ásgeirsson and Hansína Sigurbjörg Þorgrímsdóttir.

Þorgrímur’s paternal grandmother was Ragnheiður Brynjólfsdóttir (the daughter of Brynjólfur Lýðsson and Kristín Guðmundína Indriðadóttir). Brynjólfur was the son of Lýður Jónsson and Anna Magnúsdóttir. Kristín was the daughter of Indriði Jónsson and Súsanna Jóhannsdóttir.

Þorgrímur’s maternal grandfather was Þorgrímur Vídalín Sigurðsson (the son of Sigurður Þórólfsson and Anna Guðmundsdóttir). Sigurður was the son of Þórólfur Einarsson and Margrét Guðmundsdóttir. Þorgrímur’s great-grandmother Anna was the daughter of Guðmundur Ólafsson and Kristín Lovísa Árnadóttir.

Þorgrímur’s maternal grandmother was Áslaug Guðmundsdóttir (the daughter of Guðmundur Jónsson and Soffía Sigurrós Snorradóttir). Guðmundur was the son of Jón Þorsteinsson and Anna Guðmundsdóttir. Þorgrímur’s great-grandmother Soffía was the daughter of Snorri Jónsson and María Magnúsdóttir.
