Matteo Ferrari is an Italian footballer. He was born in Aflou, Algeria, to an Italian petroleum engineer father and a mother originally from Guinea. His father worked in various countries throughout Africa, because of his vocation. His father died in 1993, when Matteo was fourteen.

Matteo has a son with his partner, Venezuelan model Aída Yéspica.
