Her parents, Sameha Mahmoud Kotb and Abdel Kader Kotb, were born in Egypt, with her father, a fossil energy specialist, being from Cairo. Her name, Hoda, is Arabic, and means guidance, while her surname is a common Egyptian surname meaning pole, as in North or South Pole. She was raised in Egypt, Nigeria, West Virginia, Virginia, and Louisiana.
Hoda has two children, who are adopted.
Hoda’s paternal grandfather was named Mohamed Katb Eissa.
Hoda’s paternal grandmother was named Sekina Abdel Kader Mohamed.
Ancient Egyptians were black. This has been denied and the various pharaoahs whitened up for years. Particularly, this can be found in hollywood films. As time went on in Egypt other races settled and intermixed as there was no racism in the ancient world.
She may have some egyptian in her ancestry but to me she looks a combination of white, american indian, black. I think she claims egyptian but I don’t see how she was born in Oklahoma, a big American Indian state, and be only from egypt.
Hoda Kotb’s parents are native of Egypt but also lived in Nigeria for a time before settling in the U.S. She is more than like a mix of the localized pop. of Egypt (Amazigh, Arab, Turk, and Sub Saharan) as well as European.
None of you know what you are talking about.
To mike:well if I have said something wrong,I welcome you at anytime to show me.Don’t just say something like that, and just walk off.If you know more than I do,show me
Touche fuzzybear – you’re a wealth of information and interesting to boot…thanks!
Egyptian is not a race or ethnic… Egypt is in Africa. The original Egyptians were black – black Africa. Today’s Egyptians are mixed people of Black, Arab, etc.
ummm…..Original Egyptians black? Are you sure about that? Egyptians were all sorts of colors..dating back to the time of the pharaohs. Check out the red hair on the Mummified remains of Ra-messes the Second. Black is also not an ethnic group, as Africa is a LARGE continent and made up of Many, Many different ethnic groups. Ethnicity is not only based on the tone of our skin.

ummm….yes I’m sure about it.If you look again,Leslie said the original Egyptians.Ra-messes is from the 19th Dynasty.I mean if your going to pick through Dynasties,I can do that:example

They’re all before Ramesses
However lets take that red hair.Your under the idea that black people don’t have red hair naturally. It nothing but a recessive gene,a mutation(white and black)both get. However when Africans get it,it’s called Rufous Albinism:

Now I’m not saying this is what Old ram’s had,but it could have been. Also like you said by the time Ram’s was born,Egypt was a highway. It had been taken over many times, different groups leaving their DNA.Then again he could have had Asian ancestors like(Melanesia people). We know aboriginals have red and blond hair are they white, no.AA and black people of the Caribbean have red and blond hair. Now true they most likely get it from Irish blood, but both Irish and Scott got it from a mutation.Which is basically what humans are,Mutated genes. So to cut this short, just because Ram’s had red hair, doesn’t mean he was white
