Saud was King of Saudi Arabia, from 9 November, 1953 to 2 November, 1964, his forced abdication. He was also Viceroy of Nejd, from 8 January, 1926 to 22 September, 1932, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, from 11 May, 1933 to 9 November, 1953, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, from 9 October, 1953 to 16 August, 1954, and again, from 21 December, 1960 to 31 October, 1962. He was of the house of Al Saud.
He was the son of Wadha bint Muhammad Al Orair and Ibn Saud, who was the founder of Saudi Arabia and the House of Saud, and its first monarch; he was King of Saudi Arabia, from 23 September, 1932 to 9 November, 1953. His mother was from the Bani Khalid tribe. He succeeded his father upon his death. Five of his half-siblings have been Kings of Saudi Arabia after him, Faisal of Saudi Arabia, from 2 November, 1964 to 25 March, 1975, his assassination; Khalid of Saudi Arabia, from 25 March, 1975 to 13 June, 1982; Fahd of Saudi Arabia, from 13 June, 1982 to 1 August, 2005; Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, from 1 August, 2005 to 23 January, 2015; and Salman of Saudi Arabia, since 23 January, 2015. Faisal, Khalid, Fahd, Abdullah, and Salman have also all been Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.
Saud had at least three wives, and had at least one hundred and eight children. One of his wives was Fawzia bint Nawwaf, a granddaughter of Nuri Al Shalaan, who was Emir of the Ruwullah tribe.
Saud’s patrilineal great-great-great-grandfather, Prince Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Saud Al Saud, was born in Diriyah, Sheikhdom of Diriyah, and is regarded as the founder of the First Saudi State.
Saud’s paternal grandfather was Abdul Rahman bin Faisal Al Saud (the son of Faisal bin Turki bin Abdullah Al Saud and Sarah bint Mishari bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Saud). Abdul was Emir of Nejd, from 1875 to 1876, and again, from 1889 to 1891. Saud’s great-grandfather Faisal was Emir of Nejd, from 1834 to 1838, and again, from 1843 to 1865. He was the son of Turki bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Saud, who was Emir of Nejd, from 1819 to 1820, and again, from 1824 to 9 May, 1834; and of Hia bint Hamad bin Ali Al Faqih Angari Tamimi. Saud’s great-grandmother Sarah was the daughter of Mishari ibn Abdul-Rahman.
Saud’s paternal grandmother was Sarah/Sara bint Ahmed bin Muhammad bin Turki bin Suleiman Al Sudairi (the daughter of Ahmed Al Kabir bin Mohammed/Muhammad bin Turki Al Sudairi and Hessa bint Muhanna bin Saleh Al Nuwairan). Ahmed was the son of Mohammed bin Turki bin Suleiman Al Sudairi.
Saud’s maternal grandfather was named Muhammad Al Orair.
Saud’s maternal grandmother was named Abta Sardah.
