Mohammad bin Salman is the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, having served in the position, since 21 June, 2017. He has also been Minister of Defence, since 23 January, 20157. He was previously Deputy Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia and Second Deputy Prime Minister, from 29 April, 2015 to 21 June, 2017.

He is the son of Salman, King of Saudi Arabia, and Fahda bint Falah bin Sultan bin Hathleen al-Ajmi.

Mohammad is married to his first half-cousin, Sara bint Mashoor bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, with whom he has four children.

Mohammad’s paternal grandfather was Ibn Saud (who was the King of Saudi Arabia, the son of Abdul Rahman bin Faisal Al Saud and Sarah bint Ahmed Al Kabir bin Mohammed Al Sudairi). Ibn Saud was born in Riyadh, Emirate of Nejd. Abdul Rahman was the son of Faisal bin Turki bin Abdullah Al Saud and Sarah bint Mishari bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Saud. Mohammad’s great-grandmother Sarah was the daughter of Ahmed Al Kabir bin Mohammed bin Turki Al Sudairi.

Mohammad’s paternal grandmother was Hussa bint Ahmed Al Sudairi (the daughter of Ahmed bin Muhammed Al Sudairi and Sharifa bint Ali bin Mohammed Al Suwaidi). Mohammad’s great-grandfather Ahmed was the son of Muhammed bin Ahmed Al Kabir Al Sudairi. Sharifa was the daughter of Ali bin Mohammed Al Suwaidi.

Mohammad’s maternal grandfather was Falah bin Sultan bin Hathleen al-Ajmi (the son of Sultan bin Hathleen al-Ajmi). Sultan was the son of Hathleen al-Ajmi.

One of Mohammad’s maternal great-grandfathers, Rakan bin Hithalayn, was the head of the Al Ajman tribe.
