Rob is the son of Theresa and Robert Astorino. He is married to Sheila McCloskey, with whom he has three children.

Rob’s paternal grandfather was Pasquale “Patsy” Astorino (the son of Tommaso Astorino). Tommaso was the son of Antonio Astorino and Brigida Cosentino. The Astorino family was from Taverna, Province of Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy.

Rob’s paternal grandmother was named Marjorie Platt (the daughter of Harley/Harvey Platt and Fanny/Fannie). Marjorie was born in New York, to Russian Jewish parents.

Two of Rob’s maternal great-grandparents were Orazio Cutrone (the son of Michele Cutrone and Teodora), who was born, c. 1880, in Palo del Colle, Province of Bari, Apulia, Italy, and Agata Savarese, who likely was born, c. 1889, in Binetto, also in Province of Bari.

Robert Patrick Astorino is great great grandson of Antonio Astorino and Brigida Cosentino. This couple immigrated to New York from Taverna in the late 1890s. They brought with them their children: Caterina, Salvatore, Eugenio, Saverio, Luigi, and Tommaso (Robert’s great grandfather). Antonio Astorino in turn was born on 19 June 1836 to Salvatore Astorino and Maria Giuseppina Pascente. Among Antonio’s siblings was his older sister Anna Astorino, born on 30 September 1830. She is my great great grandmother, which makes Robert Patrick Astorino my 4th cousin.

Follers, mind adding Andrew J. Spano? He was Westchester County Executive before Astorino.

Francesco Ermelindo Astorino was born in Taverna to Salvatore Astorino and Giuseppe Puleo on 12 January 1886. He is NOT related to Robert Patrick Astorino by BLOOD. The reason for this is because his father was a foundling who was adopted by Lucio Vincenzo Astorino, older brother of Antonio Astorino, who in turn is the great great grandfather of Robert Patrick Astorino. Lucio named his adopted son after his father Salvatore. In order to indicate that Salvatore was not an Astorino by birth, his name appears as “Salvatore Astorino Esposito” in Italian records, with “Esposito” indicating his foundling status. This practice was eventually abandoned, however if your Italian surname is Esposito, chances are you have an ancestor who was a foundling since not all foundlings were fortunate enough to be adopted and “Esposito” became their official surname. Another such foundling surname is “Trovato”. In conclusion, the Francesco Astorino mentioned in this ship manifest is the second cousin twice removed of Robert Patrick Astorino via adoption.
