Rob is the son of Theresa and Robert Astorino. He is married to Sheila McCloskey, with whom he has three children.

Rob’s paternal grandfather was Pasquale “Patsy” Astorino (the son of Tommaso Astorino). Tommaso was the son of Antonio Astorino and Brigida Cosentino. The Astorino family was from Taverna, Province of Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy.

Rob’s paternal grandmother was named Marjorie Platt (the daughter of Harley/Harvey Platt and Fanny/Fannie). Marjorie was born in New York, to Russian Jewish parents.

Two of Rob’s maternal great-grandparents were Orazio Cutrone (the son of Michele Cutrone and Teodora), who was born, c. 1880, in Palo del Colle, Province of Bari, Apulia, Italy, and Agata Savarese, who likely was born, c. 1889, in Binetto, also in Province of Bari.

I have noticed that Rob Astorino and Rick Santorum are both 75% Italian and 25% Irish and where it says celebrities with similar backgrounds it doesn’t show each other?

  2. bearboy says:

      How do you know?

http://www.iitaly.org/37675/irish-routes-success-few-italian-american-politicians here @follers and his middle name is Patrick would be another reason I think this.

He is part Irish, but not because of his middle name Patrick. The name Patrick comes from his grandfather Pasquale Astorino, who went by the nick name “Patsy” and his Italian name was erroneously translated to “Patrick”. Pasquale Astorino married a woman of Irish descent named Majorie and that’s where Rob’s Irish ethnicity comes from.

“Pasquale Astorino married a woman of Irish descent named Majorie?” I think you are making up being related to him because Marjorie Platt was Jewish. If so I think you owe Astorino an apology!!!

          • pathdoc83 says:

I am definitely related to him, but to be honest I don’t know him personally, so I could never have known Marjorie’s maiden name. How do you know Marjorie’s maiden name? I tried finding it. You must know them personally.

@pathdoc83 don’t worry I wasn’t being serious. anyway it’s cool you are related to him. we have his opponent George Latimer’s brother on this website as well! Celebs family loves ethnic Celeb apparently!!!
