Rita Ora is a British singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for her songs “R.I.P.,” “How We Do (Party),” “Your Song,” “Anywhere,” “Let You Love Me,” and, in a featured role, “Hot Right Now.” She has also been billed as Rita Sahatçiu Ora.

She was born in Pristina, Yugoslavia, to a Kosovan Albanian family. She is the daughter of Vera (Bajraktari), a psychiatrist, and Besnik Sahatçiu, a pub owner. Her father is a Muslim and her mother is Catholic. Her family moved to the U.K in 1991, because of the persecution of Albanians in Kosovo, and she was raised in Notting Hill, London. Her surname, Sahatçiu, is derived from the Turkish word saatçi, which means “watchmaker.” Her family later added “Ora” to her full name; the word means “time” in Albanian. She is a citizen of the U.K. and Kosovo. In 2015, she was named Honorary Ambassador of Kosovo.

When asked about her ethnicity in an interview, Rita stated that she is “100% from Kosovo,” here. A picture of Rita’s father can be seen here. A picture of Rita’s mother can be seen here. Rita is married to New Zealand actor and filmmaker Taika Waititi.

Rita’s paternal grandfather was Besim Sahatçiu, a film and theatre director (the son of Adem Sahatçiu and Besa). Besim was born in Pejë, Kingdom of Yugoslavia, now Kosovo.

Rita’s maternal grandfather was named Osman Bajraktari. Osman was the Albanian consul to Russia, then part of the USSR.

    Blacks make fun of rita ora for trying to pass as white. She avoids answering the question about her race by stating she is from Albania. Just because a black is born in Norway for example does not make him white. She has a black voice, kinky hair at the roots that is obviouslt not white people hair, looks black like Rihanna and Nicki M but she obviously is ashamed of being African. But she is not alone unfortunately as lots of black fenales try to hide their race as Oprah writes, with fake hair, fake hair color etc…obviously she is not white from that family as they are white and she is black.

      OMG ! I’ve never read something that stupid … you americans really need to educate yourselves.
      Rita is not black, her parents are white, she’s not of african descent, she looks albanian, maybe with some arab roots or middleeastern which is possible because they are muslims. I know an arab girl who looks just like her. AA see black people everywhere and are obsessed with race.
      It’s not because you’re not comfortable with yourself everybody is. Her hair is not kinky but curly or wavy, ” a black voice” ? hahahaha no comments, black people are not the only people who can sing and who have curly hair not even kinky hair ! stop thinking you are so unique and your features are unique, full lips, curly hair, curves are NOT typical african features.

        @samira

        First you go on a rant about how white she is,but then you contradict yourself by saying( maybe with some arab roots or middle eastern ).Also that you know an Arab girl that looks like her.Which leads to the idea,that you don’t think she’s 100% white either.

        • samira says:

          I don’t contradict myself all ! if she has some arab roots it’s probably like 10 or 15% that still makes her white and i’m sorry but arabs can be white ! Syrians for example are white with fair hair and eyes, Lebanese people are also white.
          And yes I know an arab girl who looks just like her and she’s white not black nor brown.

          By the way, I am arab myself don’t try to teach me something about my people.

            @samira

            You go on and on about black American being obsessed with race,yet here you are screaming from the rafters,about what this girl doesn’t have in her background,as if you actually knew.When in fact,you don’t know any more than anyone else does about her.Also If none of this matter to you,you wouldn’t care what anybody said about her background.Now just so you know,I never called her black.However I did say she could have that heritage,and not know it.Since kid normally go by what their parents tell them.Now if they told her she was 100% white,then that’s how she is going to think(just like Michael Fosberg did).However even if she does have that ancestry(and I’m not saying she does),it’s just that “Ancestry”.Also if you bother to check,it’s not just black people ,there just as many whites etc saying the same thing about her.Now for me,Rita looks like young Sheila E.

            (By the way, I am arab myself don’t try to teach me something about my people.)

            First,I don’t remember ever talking to you about arabs. However the Last time we spoke,weren’t you only half Ethiopian arab?I didn’t realize,that encompass all the other arabs groups like say the (syrians and Lebanese )

          • andrew says:

            trollbear you’re afrocentric as fuck, your efforts to prove north africans or middle easterners can be from “white to black” are useless since everyone knows they’re not black, yes they’re not europeans but not like in your fake pics and they’re actually caucasians. You also claimed black for Mexicans/Latinos before..who’s next

          • J.J. says:

            @andrew
            “everyone knows middle easterns aren’t black”, well obviously since they’re white Caucasians however you will come across many north African arabs with strong negroid facial structures and skin tones who would be better categorised as black than white, but overall middle easterns do come under the Caucasian race however they do have black admixture in their DNA hence the darker features and varied facial structure to that of the stereotypical white person from Europe. Andrew seriously you’re arguing a ridiculous point.

  2. dawei says:

    she looks kinda mixed like middle eastern or black and her family looks white, but sometimes people looks like their grandparents,there are a lot of historical facts involved , considering that the balkans were a turkish colony for so long that can explain something,in my case i dont resemble my brother or mother but i look like my grandad ,he is ligth skinned and im also pale,most colonized countries had some kind of mixing going on. sorry if my english is wrong

  3. J.J. says:

    I wouldn’t ridicule people for assuming she has some sort of black ancestry or that she looks mixed race, because she does. But she is white as she’s of full European heritage, the rest of her family look more obviously white than her though so she just happened to get the right facial features from both parents plus possible recessive genes that her parents were carrying to give her a noticeable negroid look, nothing to get into an argument about really, southern europeans do carry African genes which is what gives them darker features so even though they’re still white you do get some southern Europeans with strong negroid looks/facial features

    • andrew says:

      south europeans do NOT carry African genes as you think and actually nobody in the Mediterranean looks like this person, or she was adopted or the mom knows..

      • fuzzybear44 says:

        @andrew

        (south europeans do NOT carry African genes as you think)

        Prove it?

        • andrew says:

          I dont reply to Afrocentrists sorry

          • fuzzybear44 says:

            @Andrew

            (I dont reply to Afrocentrists sorry)

            So in other words no,you couldn’t prove it

            Also calling me an Afrocentric,doesn’t do anything.It doesn’t hurt my feelings or stop me from speaking.I could call you a (Eurocentric Racist Bigot).However guess what,you’re still there.It hasn’t done a thing,so save the name calling for the next black you talk to.

          • andrew says:

            “trollbear”

          • fuzzybear44 says:

            Well I guess name calling is the best you can do

          • J.J. says:

            i honestly don’t see why any one would deny southern Europeans and middle easterns carrying African genes, I mean look at them, they have dark hair and eyes in general, coloured/off white skin, wavy/curly and sometimes even frizzy close to afro hair, many have broad noses and larger more prominently round eye shapes, many have the African buttocks, and although southern Europeans and middle easterns are stereotyped with being hairy you will get some that are virtually hairless like many black people. I mean explain why southern Europeans and middle easterns look noticeably different to the stereotypical white person from Germany? and don’t give me some crap about climate because it would take more time than it’s been for the white people in those areas to adapt to those climates and go from being blonde haired and blue eyed to what they look like now without racial intermixing. southern Europeans and middle easterns all carry the recessive blonde haired blue eyed white gene hence why they’re still classed as white Caucasians but racial intermixing has made the light features fade making it the minority that still obtain them in those regions. If blonde hair and blue eyes was dominant most of the middle east would possess light features today. open your eyes and actually look at a white person from Italy and compare them to a white person from Germany, I’m sure you’ll notice a significant difference in physical appearance despite their extremely close geographical locations to each other.

            It’s pointless trying to reason with Fuzzybear 44….she or he, has “fuzzy” thinking, which is probably why they use that pen name! lol :)

            They think everyone is black and yet if they are 1% of anything, they’re mixed….So there you go! lol :)

            ….It’s a waste of time talking to that person, because no matter what you say, they’ll find a way to insert their afrocentrist views.

            ….Unfortunately, there’s no changing their mind…. She or he believes that they are the authority on genetics and Afrocentrism! lol :)

            Interesting,(JJ) is not black and yet she said the same thing,but you call me Afrocentric.I can’t help if I find learning fun,and people like yourself don’t.I learn the history of the country,and if people don’t like what i find out,to bad.

            (She or he believes that they are the authority on genetics)

            It geneticist who say this stuff,so again if you don’t like take it up with them

          • andrew says:

            portuguese JJ dont confuse Middle Easterners and South Europeans. Also Mediterraneans dont have broad noses, but long ones. Hair texture means nothing, how many redheads or blonde you find..

          • andrew says:

            with curly hair

          • J.J. says:

            I do not confuse middle easterns with southern Europeans I merely use them as examples of white people with black ancestry, obviously middle easterns would have heavier admixture than southern Europeans do. even the differences between southern European countries is significant, the genetics of Greece & Albania vary greatly to that of spain and Portugal

        • andrew says:

          southern euro dont have any “black” ancestry, first they’re completely different for physical structure second they cluster with the rest of Europeans third Mediterranean types are not exclusive of South Europe. Italians and Germans..well..in Brazil they’re considered of the same stock coz of massive immigration from North-East of Italy, where you live in Sidney or US they all come from South where Med phenoptype is prevalent..btw in Italy there are a lot of variety and you can’t really tell where a person is from

        • samira says:

          it is pretty easy to find studies about that subject and mediterranean don’t carry african genes.
          Afrocentrists see black people everywhere and ven if they have to falsify History, you’re not better than the nazis.

          • fuzzybear44 says:

            @samira

            Sweetie dye your hair blond,and be quiet

            @fuzzybear
            You are really stupid, is that the only thing you have to say ? you are ridiculous and obsessed with race (maybe because you have no identity but I HAVE ONE), I’ve never seen people more obsessed with race than the Americans and especially black americans.

          • fuzzybear44 says:

            @samira

            ( you are ridiculous and obsessed with race (maybe because you have no identity but I HAVE ONE)

            So you call me Afrocentric,and yet have the nerve to get mad,because I made a derogatory comment toward you.If you want respect,then give it.Now for the record,both sides of family are creoles,and I know the history of my people.However how I lived my life today,is what affirms my Identity.I don’t depend on what my ancestors did,to show me who I am.However if that’s what you need,go right ahead.Also no ,I’m not obsessed with race sweetie,but I am obsessed with getting factual history,not that made up crap you seem to be okay with.What I say, has nothing to do with being Afrocentric,I just want the truth taught.Also people all over the world are into this stuff, including yourself which is why you’re on the site.However the average black American,probably doesn’t give 2 cents about this,so don’t pretend you know anything about them.

    • JasonBaker says:

      That’s not true. Southern Europeans are White. Actually being European (whether it’s eastern, western, northern or whatever) means being White.
      Just because the percentage of blondes in Italy is smaller than the percentage of blondes in Germany doesn’t mean that Italians are not white lol.

  4. balkanboy says:

    She is like Ariana Grande – southern european with dark complexions and features, end of discussion. They are NOT mixed with black, middle easterns, gypsies, indians or mestizos!

    • murican says:

      Anyone who says she looks black doesn’t know what black people or mixed people look like.

    • andrew says:

      they look different

      • andrew says:

        to balkan boy

      • balkanboy says:

        I was trying to say that they two had in common that they are both south europeans (Kosovo and Italy are both in South Europe) with dark complexions and features. I´ve seen a lot of people commenting on ther looks, and claiming that they must have som black in them etc, so I decided to comment on that.

        • andrew says:

          kosovo is not even a country

          • balkanboy says:

            Hahahahahah it´s not?? So why is it called the youngest country in Europe? Kosovo was an province in Joguslavia but got their independence 2008, ur welcome;-))

          • andrew says:

            Its status is disputed.

          • rickyflo says:

            Balkan Boy is right. A country is a systematic territory land of some rights, voting and freedom. Perfect example is Canada. It is a country but have the Victoria General, which is the position of the Queen of England or UK in better words. It is a new country but a country is still a country whether it lasted 5 years, 20, or 70. Another Example is Prussia was a country (kingdom), and we don’t recognize that much of it in our US history. It declared its independence in 1989 overall and finally freed with a treaty and release from serbia. Even lists it as a country looped but as that listing on google maps and they never get that wrong at least for names of places.

    • ses101 says:

      Ariana Grande doesn’t look European either.
