Ruth Negga is an Ethiopian and Irish actress. She has starred in the films Passing, The Samaritan, and Loving, and the series Preacher, among other works. She was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to an Ethiopian father, a doctor, and an Irish mother, Nora (likely née Malone), a nurse. Her parents met while her mother was working in Ethiopia.

Ruth moved to Limerick, Ireland when she was around four.
