Rihanna is a Barbadian singer, songwriter, rapper, dancer, record producer, and actress. She has been Barbadian Ambassador at-Large, since 21 September, 2018.

Rihanna’s paternal grandfather was African-Barbadian. Rihanna’s paternal grandmother, who is white, has Scottish, English, and Irish ancestry. Rihanna’s mother is of African-Guyanese descent.

In an interview with Allure magazine, Rihanna stated that she was bullied in school and called ‘white’ by the other kids while growing up in Barbados.

Rihanna’s paternal grandfather was named Reginald Leslie Forde (the son of Helen Forde). Helen was the daughter of Joseph Nathanael “Joe” Forde and Louisa Jane Bascom.

Rihanna’s paternal grandmother is Elizabeth “Betty” Fenty (the daughter of Stanley Fitzherbert Fenty and Hilda Olga Coppin). Elizabeth is white. Her parents were born in Barbados. The surname Fenty is usually Scottish and the surname Coppin is usually English. Rihanna’s grandmother is also cited as having Irish ancestry. Stanley likely was the grandson of John Fitzherbert Fenty and Mary Louisa Jane Fenty.

    Genealogy of Rihanna: https://gw.geneanet.org/sly51?lang=en&iz=109&m=A&p=robyn+rihanna&n=fenty&siblings=on&notes=on&t=T&v=6&image=on&marriage=on&full=on

Fenty line is documented quite well in depth, but Stanley Fitzherbert Fenty’s father’s name is missing. There are some options on Familysearch tree: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/landscape/MTV8-HW6

Her mother is a BLACK guyanese woman. Not a coolie nor mixed with Indian. Her father is most likely 50-60% black. Rihannas ancestry is definitely majority African, with a slight european admixture

correction caucasian should be changed to european

  4. dlxzvs says:

correction guyana is not in the caribbean, so it should not be included with african-caribbean

    • callmecharlie says:

Actually, Guyana is a Caribbean territory. Just like Puerto Rico is a US territory.

      • dlxzvs says:

Guyana is not a territory. It is a country in South America. You could’ve used google before saying stuff ok

        • callmecharlie says:

As someone with Guyanese roots, I can tell you that while, geographically, Guyana is in South America, it’s culturally/ethnically a part of the Caribbean. The Caribbean is not a continent; it’s a region that includes countries/territories from several continents. You could read more than just the first sentence of a google search before saying stuff ok

          • dlxzvs says:

Guyana is still not caribbean. It is not even an island or does it border the caribbean sea. Culture can be similar but that doesnt change these facts whether you like it or not. And if you’re from Guyana how can you say it is a territory? Lol maybe learn more about those roots then. Anyway im not going to argue with you further

          • Oaken05 says:

You are correct. This is literally the second sentence of the wiki article on the country:

” It is often considered part of the Caribbean region because of its strong cultural, historical, and political ties with other Anglo-Caribbean countries and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM)”

I don’t know how someone is going to tell you – someone with Guyanese roots – what is and isn’t Caribbean. Guyana is very culturally part of the Caribbean region regardless of its geography. The creole spoken there is related to the creoles of the Caribbean.

          • callmecharlie says:

dlxzvs – I wasn’t using the term “territory” in it’s literal sense. I was using it to mean that Guyana is culturally/ethnically a part of the Caribbean. You tell me to do my research yet you can’t even be bothered to read past the first sentence of a Google search. Pathetic and lazy.

          • callmecharlie says:

dlxzvs – “Guyana is part of the Anglophone Caribbean” <— taken straight from the wiki page…

      • dlxzvs says:

You said a territory like puerto rico. You dont even know my roots so you dont have to tell me anything. Im from the region. It is considered culturally caribbean but not geographically, so it is not (factually). Talking about wiki, if you read the caribbean article it still is excluded. So the description of her ethnicity is better how it is now. I dont care what you consider yourself, i never asked about it you moron

        • callmecharlie says:

Oh, piss off, Neanderthal. I said territory like Puerto Rico, meaning it is not a part of the 50 states of America but it is still considered to be a part of the United States. What exactly do you think the term “ethnicity” refers to? Ethnicity refers to culture. The term you’re looking for is “nationality” which refers to geography. Vietnam isn’t in East Asia but it is still considered an East Asian ethnic group because it is culturally East Asian. No one asked you for your ill-informed two cents but you still provided it. You’re not very bright, are you?
