Rick Rubin is an American record producer and executive. He was co-president of Columbia Records. Along with Russell Simmons, Rick is the co-founder of Def Jam Records, and also established American Recordings. He is also known as DJ Double R and the Loudness King.

He is the son of Linda and Mickey Martin Rubin, a shoe wholesaler. Rick is married to actress and model Mourielle Hurtado Herrera, with whom he has a son.

Rick’s paternal grandfather was Jack Rubin (the son of Solomon/Chalie “Samuel/Sam” Rubin and Marie “Mary” Anenberg). Jack was born in New York, to Russian Jewish parents. Solomon was the son of Max Rubin and Nichama Cohen. Marie was the daughter of Morris Anenberg and Zena Cohen.

Rick’s paternal grandmother was Birdie Reiss (the daughter of Jacob Reiss and Rosie/Rosy Pasternak). Birdie was born in New York, to Austrian Jewish parents. Jacob was the son of Joseph Reiss and Sarah Hirsch.
