He is the son of Deborah and The Rev. Paul Hauser. His father is a Lutheran minister, as were/are his grandfather, great-grandfather, two great-great-grandfathers, and brother. Paul was raised in Saginaw, Michigan. He is married to Amy Elizabeth Boland, with whom he has two children.

Paul’s paternal grandfather was The Rev. J. George Hauser (Jean George Hauser, the son of The Rev. Martin Gotlieb/Gottlieb Wilhelm Hauser and Emma Schmidt). The Rev. J. George was born in Minnesota. The Rev. Martin was the son of The Rev. Emma’s parents were German.

Paul’s great-great-grandfather The Rev. Karl Hauser was the son of Stefan Hauser and Johanna Feiertag. He was a minister in the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. Some sources state that The Rev. Karl was born Jewish. It is not clear if this is accurate.

Paul’s paternal grandmother is Hildegarde/Hildegard L. Kionka (the daughter of Paul Carl Kionka and Emma Louise Mueller). Hildegarde was born in Wisconsin. Paul was the son of The Rev. Paul John Kionka, who was born in Wołczyn, Opolskie, Poland, and of Marie Alice Klein, who was of German origin, with roots in Landkreis Esslingen, Baden-Württemberg. Paul Walter Hauser is indeed of Jewish ancestry. His 2nd-great grandfather the Rev. Karl Hauser (1853-1939), was the son of Stefan Hauser ( -1854) and Johanna Feirtag. They were both from Moravia. At least Stefan was Jewish, uncertain about Johanna.

I know his ancestors were Stefan Hauser and Johanna Feiertag, but how do you know Stefan was Jewish? Stefan wasn’t a common name for Central European Jewish men of the time, although maybe he changed it.

New Rauschnitz, Austria appears to be Neu Raußnitz (Rousínov), Czech Republic. If that’s where Karl Hauser was born, it is very much possible that he was Jewish. But I can’t find anyone with the names Feiertag or Hauser in that town. The closest I found is the name Haussners.
