She is known for her roles in the films Diablo (2015), The Edge of Seventeen, #REALITYHIGH, The Miracle Season, Bliss (2021), and Kemba, and on the series Cult (2013), Heroes Reborn: Dark Matters, Travelers, Spy Kids: Mission Critical, in voice performance; and See (2019).

Her father is Jamaican, and is black. Her mother is white. She was raised mostly in Courtenay, British Columbia. Nesta is married to associate producer Peter Van Auker.
