Natalie Merchant is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. She is the daughter of Anne (Meyer) and Anthony Merchant. She has a daughter with her former husband, Daniel de la Calle.

Natalie’s paternal grandparents were Anthony “Tony” Merchant/Mercante (the son of Joseph L. Mercante and Rose) and Ida/Ada R. Benenati. Anthony and Ida were Italian immigrants.

Natalie’s maternal grandfather was Jerome Joseph Meyer (the son of Joseph A. Meyer and Elizabeth C.). Elizabeth’s mother was Irish.

Natalie’s maternal grandmother was Elizabeth Charlotte Boesch (the daughter of Oliver Wendell Boesch and Marion Couvrette). Oliver was the son of John Boesch, who was German, and of Stella Ralph. Marion was the daughter of Syripine/Cyprian Couvrette, who was French-Canadian, and of Anna J. Byron, who was Irish.
