Mark McGrath is an American singer. He is the lead vocalist of rock band Sugar Ray. He was also a member of rock supergroup and side project The Wondergirls, with Ian Astbury, Jay Gordon, Shannon Leto, Ryan Shuck, and Scott Weiland.
He is married to beautician Carin Kingsland, with whom he has two children.
Mark’s paternal grandfather was Edward Thomas McGrath (the son of Thomas Francis McGrath and Mary Louise Othelie/Adella Defihles). Edward was born in Connecticut. Mark’s great-grandfather Thomas was born in Connecticut, to Irish parents, Patrick Joseph McGrath and Nora. Adella was born in Lyoffans, France, and was the daughter of Barthelemy Martin Defilhes and Marie Victorine Guenon.
Mark’s paternal grandmother was Catherine Claudine Sayers (the daughter of John Aloysius Sayers and Katherine Loretta Donahue). Mark’s grandmother Catherine was born in Connecticut. John was born in Connecticut, to Irish parents. Mark’s great-grandmother Katherine was the daughter of William Donahue and Mary Keating, who were also of Irish origin.
Mark’s maternal grandfather was Henry Gordon Semple (the son of John J. Semple and Agnes Marie Connor). Henry was born in New York, and was of Irish descent. John was the son of John Semple and Bridget Ryan. Agnes was the daughter of James Conner and Catharine McManus.
