John Baker Saunders was an American musician. He was a founding member and bassist for grunge rock supergroup Mad Season, as well as a member of rock band The Walkabouts. Mark Lanegan, Barrett Martin, Mike McCready, John Baker Saunders, and Layne Staley were also members of Mad Season.
He was the son of Charleen and John Baker Saunders, Sr.
John’s maternal grandfather was Charles S. Greer (the son of Joseph Stevenson Greer and Isabella J. “Belle” Sharp). Charles was born in Pennsylvania or Oklahoma.
John’s maternal grandmother was Viola Belle Turner (the daughter of Reason Turner and Henrietta Louise “Etta” Rogers). Viola was born in Oklahoma. Reason was the son of Joseph Turner and Mary Odell. Etta was the daughter of Benjamin Hartford Rogers and Mandana Chase.
