Jacques Plante was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He was a goaltender. He played most of his National Hockey League (NHL) career with the Montréal Canadians.

Jacques was the son of Palma (Brière) and François Xavier Plante. He had two children with his wife Jacqueline Gagné.

Jacques’ paternal grandfather was François Xavier Plante (the son of Joseph Plante and Esther/Ester Eugene Lefebvre). François was born in Saint-Raymond, Portneuf. Joseph was the son of Prisque Plante and Louise Gourdeau.
