Hervé Villechaize was a French and American actor and artist. He is known for playing Tattoo on the show Fantasy Island.

Hervé was born in Paris, France, and was the son of Evelyn (Recchionni) and André Villechaize, a surgeon. He moved to the U.S. in the mid 1960s. He was a dwarf.

Hervé was sometimes said to have had Filipino ancestry. It does not appear that this was accurate.

Hervé’s paternal grandfather was François Villechaize (the son of Marie Léonard Villechaize and Philomène Colombier). François was born in Saint-Junien.
