Gabriele is the son of Antonella Cappuccio, a painter, and Luigi Muccino, an RAI executive. His father has roots in Salcito, Campobasso, Molise. His mother was born on Ischia island, Naples, Campania. His younger brother is actor and director Silvio Muccino, and his sister is casting director Laura Muccino.
