Charlotte Kemp Muhl is an American singer, songwriter, writer, model, and film director. She is also known as simply Kemp Muhl.

Kemp’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to her ninth great-grandfather, Antoine Muhl.

Kemp’s paternal grandfather was James Howard Muhl (the son of Fred Joseph Muhl and Anne Currie Riley). James was born in Texas. Fred was the son of a French emigrant, AndrĂ© Muhl (later Andrew Muhl), of Lampertheim, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, and of a German emigrant, Josephine Fischer, of Hesse. Anne was the daughter of an Irish emigrant, John Hamilton Riley, of County Tipperary, and of Leila Ada Currie.

Kemp’s paternal grandmother is Ardeth L. Ann Wick (the daughter of Henry P. Wick and Emily E. Backhaus, later Backus). Ardeth was born in New York. Henry was of German descent, and was the son of Frank A. Wick and Barbara Margaret Dopfel. Kemp’s great-grandmother Emily was the daughter of German immigrants, “John H.” Backhaus (later Backus) and Augusta Sauder.

Kemp’s maternal grandfather is named Edward Sullivan.

Kemp’s maternal grandmother is named Marjorie Silvey.
