Carl Bildt is a Swedish politician and diplomat. He served as the 28th Prime Minister of Sweden, from 4 October, 1991 to 7 October, 1994. He was also Leader of the Moderate Party, from 23 August, 1986 to 4 September, 1999, High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, from 14 December, 1995 to 18 June, 1997, and Minister for Foreign Affairs, from 6 October, 2006 to 3 October, 2014.
Carl’s father, Nils Daniel Fredrik Bildt, was a former major in the reserves of the now defunct Halland Regiment, and a former bureau director in the now defunct Civil Defense Board’s Education Bureau. Carl’s mother, Rut Kerstin Maria (Andersson-Alvå), was also born in Halmstad.
Carl is married to Italian-born politician Anna Maria Corazza. He was previously married to Kerstin Zetterberg and Gunnel Maria Kristina “Mia” Bohman.

Carl’s paternal grandfather was Nils Gustaf Knut Bildt (the son of Knut Gillis Bildt and Christina Elisabet Helena Åkerhielm af Blombacka). Christina was the daughter of Oscar August Blixt Åkerhielm af Blombacka, and of Christina Fredrika Åkerhielm af Margretelund.
Carl’s paternal grandmother was Fritze Caroline Sneedorf-Willemoes (the daughter of Fredrik Sneedorff-Willemoës and Emily Blom, also known as Emily Caroline Blom). Fritze was Danish, from Copenhagen. Carl’s great-grandfather Fredrik was the son of Frederik Christian Willemoës and Hanne Arnoldine Lovise Sneedorff. Emily was the daughter of Julius Andreas Blom and Frederikke Caroline Funch.
Carl’s maternal grandfather was Karl Andersson (the son of Anders Persson and Kerstin Johansdotter). Anders was the son of Per Bengtsson and Anna Carlsdotter. Kerstin was the daughter of Johannes Bengtsson and Johanna Olsdotter.
Carl’s maternal grandmother was Justina Johannesdotter (the daughter of Johannes Larsson and Neta Jönsdotter). Carl’s great-grandfather Johannes was the son of Lars Jönsson and Anna Jönsdotter. Neta was the daughter of Jöns Bengtsson and Petronilla Johannesdotter.
Carl’s matrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his third great-grandmother, Kersti Johansdotter (c. 1787 – 17 April 1870, Snöstorp, Halland).
