Stana Katic is a Canadian film and television actress, and producer, active in the United States. She is known for starring on the series Castle and Absentia, and for her role in the film The Spirit.

Katic was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She has stated:

My parents are Serbs from Croatia. I call us Dalmatian because that’s the part of the planet that we are originally from. I have Serb, Croat and even a handful of Montenegrin family members.

Her father is from Vrlika and her mother is from around Sinj. She speaks fluent English, Serbian, French, and Italian. She also has U.S. citizenship.

Stana is married to consultant Kris Brkljac, with whom she has one child.

    She would cover herself like a Latina in Brazil because of her brown eyes and thick nose resembling the Brazilian actress Débora Bloch. If she had been born in Bolivia they would say that she is not white and descended from Indian because her skin is tanned. This kind of person who cares only about looks or nationality is prejudiced and stupid.

    Is she not described in several biographies as being born to a Croatian, rather than Serbian mother, though? She even mentioned herself that she has certain Croatian family members.
