Bradley Nowell was an American singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. He was the founder, lead singer, and guitarist of rock band Sublime.
He was married to Troy Dendekker, with whom he had a son.
His ancestry included English, German, Irish, 1/16th Czech [Bohemian], as well as small amounts of Scottish, Dutch, and distant Welsh, French, and Swiss-German. Additionally, one of Bradley’s 9th great-grandmothers, Jane Sandusky, was said to be Native American, although there does not appear to exist any particular evidence for this.
Bradley’s paternal grandfather was Louis Ray Nowell (the son of Oliver Nowell and Minnie Gordon). Louis was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to a Mormon family. Oliver was the son of Oliver Nowell and Mary Newton, whose parents were English. Minnie was the daughter of John Henry Gordon, who was English, and of Mary Rebecca Bolton.
Bradley’s paternal grandmother was Maxine Dolores Barlow (the son of Edmund/Edward/Edwin Joseph Barlow and Irene Mildred Blahna). Edmund was the son of John H. Barlow, whose parents were Irish, and of Emma H., whose parents were German. Irene was the daughter of Peter Blahna, who was born in Crawford, Wisconsin, to Czech parents, and of Mary Jane, who was born in Manitoulin, Ontario, Canada, to an Irish father.
Bradley’s maternal grandfather was Myron Shomler (the son of Florence Isaac Shomler and Frances Maud Darling). Myron was born in Iowa. Florence was the son of Florence Shomler, who was German, and of Lucretia E. Noe. Frances was the daughter of Gilivan Edson Darling and Roselvina Stephens.
Bradley’s maternal grandmother was Annie Louise Carroll (the son of Almeron Edgar Carroll and Annie Mary Gribble). Bradley’s grandmother Annie was born in California. Almeron was the son of Luke Carroll, who was Canadian, and of Louisa Olive Patrick. Bradley’s great-grandmother Annie was born in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of English parents, William Henry Gribble and Ann Wimperis.
