Betsy Palmer was an American actress and television personality. She is known particularly for her role as Mrs. Voorhees, Jason’s mother, in Friday the 13th (1980).

Betsy was the daughter of Marie M., who headed the Chicago Business College, and Rudolph Vincent Hrunek, an industrial chemist. Betsy’s father was a Czech Bohemian emigrant, from Prague. Betsy had said, “my mother was adopted and never knew her nationality.”

Betsy had a daughter with her former husband, obstetrician-gynecologist Vincent J. Merendino.

Betsy’s paternal grandfather was named Vincent Hrunek.

Betsy’s paternal grandmother was named Amelia.

Betsy’s adoptive maternal grandfather was John A. Love (the son of Mitchell William Love and Margaret Hughes). John was born in Michigan. Mitchell was born in Ontario, Canada.

Betsy’s adoptive maternal grandmother was Clara A. Wooley (the daughter of Henry Woolley/Wooley and Elizabeth/Eliza A. Teeter). Clara was born in Michigan.
