Bai Ling is a Chinese-born American actress. Ling was born in Chengdu, Sichuan, China, the daughter of Chen Binbin, a teacher, actress, and dancer, and Bai Yuxiang, a musician and music teacher.

She moved to New York, U.S., in 1991, and became a U.S. citizen in the 1990s. Ling got her first major break in the 1994 film The Crow, playing Myca.
