Richard Kiel was an American actor. His roles included the films The Longest Yard (1974), Silver Streak (1976), The Spy Who Loved Me, Force 10 from Navarone, Moonraker, Cannonball Run II, Pale Rider, Happy Gilmore, and Tangled. He was known as “The Gentle Giant.” He was 7′2″.

Richard was the son of Mary and George Albert Kiel. His father was born in Detroit, Michigan, to German parents. He had gigantism. His family moved to Los Angeles, California, around 1948. Richard was married to Diane Rogers, until his death, with whom he had four children. Diane was 5′1″.

Richard’s paternal grandfather was named John Kiel.

Richard’s paternal grandmother was named Mary Peckryn.
